Once again Powerhouse Books will publish another memoir written by  Bob Lemkowitz who is in the same class as Richard Andoe, Richard Price and Mickey Spillane. The new book will be published in March '08. Mr. Lemkowitz, an internationally exhibited painter and photographer who grew up in NYC in the 40's and 50's is a product of the NYC school system and streets of NY . His short stories have appeared in the literary journals, Open City, Bomb, and Bald Ego. The new work will be called 'Hopkinson Avenue'  The book talks about an area of Brooklyn called Brownsville in the late 40's where you were either an immigrant from the camps in Eastern Europe or a gangster, part of the Amboy Dukes, The 5 Percenters or Murder Incorporated. The opening lines......' there is a spectre haunting Brownsville, no, not the kind that Marx wrote about haunting Europe, but one of grinding poverty and crime'.................
