Stephanie Rosen of  will be our new food critic, Ms. Rosen has done restaurant and food reviews for the past 35 years mostly on the west coast

WOW....our editor/publisher found a spectacular restaurant in Saugerties last Sunday and he will be giving his review which I hear will be A +++ the name of the dining establishment is  GISIANO'S.. ( see below)

and once again Gisiano's is the best Italian in the entire Hudson Valley Region.

Tonight, March 6, we will be dining at the Skytop Steakhouse and Brewery in Kingston...a noted location for their specialty...we will report immediately....SR

Chef's On Fire  High Falls NY
Must have been a bad Sunday at Chef's On Fire...A small whiskey glass of warm vodka measuring 3/4 of an inch high was $ 10.00..the Turkey and Cheese Panini was cold and tasteless and the cole slaw was turning to pure vinegar, the salad was a plate of wilted something. This Chef was not on Fire but he must have been on vacation.
Bad , Bad ,Bad ......( but, we did see the Great Cousin Brucie there...)

February 14...Valentine's Day
Le Petitie Bistro, Rhinebeck, NY
Reservations were made and reviewer arrived on time.
Seating was fine and other diners compatible and friendly.
Appetizers were extraordinary, service the same. Entrees were disappointing in that the owner/chef informed us that some of the items were....' served through' now that means not available in English...this should have been made clear before serving the appetizer course...the entrees however were great ....desserts were less than passable...will we recommend ...yes..but be careful and ask what is still available and what is ' served through'

And by the way Ariella the barperson at GIGI's makes the best White Russians in the mid-Hudson Valley....' and a good day to you sir...........'

STARR PLACE    6417 Montgomery St  ( Route 9) next to Upstate Films..Under new management thank goodness and a real change from the previous establishment. We dined there 3 times since they opened looking for flaws and finding NONE..the menu, servers, bar, prices and attitude were all great. We won't go into the menu offerings because having had 3 nites to go through the offerings we found each course spectacular...the only negative comment that we could offer is that the powder rooms are 2 flights above the dining room and a young man floats around the room in an undertakers outfit checking the tables from time to time. ( found this a bit eerie) Call ahead, you will not be sorry  845  876-2924 speak to ' Roberto'

GISIANO'S
And now, the discovery of the year.. Artie and Phil's  'GISIANO'S' Restaurant located off rte 32 on Main St in
Saugerties, call before going  845  246-3035. An unassuming building off the road that can easily be passed over if you are unaware of this splendid, super spectacular eatery which appears under the radar at first glance. The decor is old fashioned, the menu is rather simple and the food is absolutely the best we have had in ages. We ordered the steak special and a chichen dish that was so phenomenal that we had to stop between bites in order to make sure we were awake and not dreaming...seriously we cannot say enough about Gisiano's..The portions are very large and the prices are modest...the dessert tray is the best we have seen far exceeding those fancy establishments that depend on cosmetics. We thank Abe and Gail for the recommendation and hope everyone reading this takes our word for every claim made in this review... Congratulations Phil and Artie
you have earned the Congressional Medal of Culinary Honor with Oak Leaf clusters.
